Suffer The Children Unto Sai Baba

Four years ago in the public discussions boards, I made a statement about Sai Baba's homosexual paedophilia behaviour that included a claim about the Baba's rapes of little children as young as three years old. Considering that this had not been mentioned in public online testimonies or legal affidavits then or since, my comment attracted a miniscule amount of controversy which, in my view, was rather understandable.

Looking back on this topic, I now realise that this statement was somewhat exaggerated in the context of regular discussion of other victims of Sai Baba's sexual abuse. I have also since come to recognise that Sai Baba's abuse may not only be characterised as sexual abuse, but may take many other forms such as verbal abuse, emotional abuse, emotional blackmail, physical abuse (as in violence) and general manipulation. For example, Alaya Rahm's testimony [in the BBC 'Secret Swami' documentary] includes accounts of emotional blackmail where Sai Baba insisted that he never tell his parents about the abuse lest his penis be cut off and his life made hellish.

In Alaya's own words:

"Oral sex he would try to get that to happen several times. Both on, he would perform it to me and then, you know, and then sometimes threaten to cut my penis off and hold it, like it’s bad, I should cut it off. He would ask me all the time; why don’t you want me, you don’t want me. It was so far out to me, to think that he was actually just wanting me to physically want him." [10.29.19]

Read the transcript for more or watch the video. Suffice it to say that Sai Baba also issued other threats such as withdrawing the "privilege" of his personal association, a stop to the interviews and other things. Threats and intimidations are core elemts of Sai Baba's modus operandi.

In any case my own statement about Sai Baba's child abuse of a three-year-old child was something of a personal project; for the life of me I could not recall where I had read it or where I had heard it from until today. I was flicking through the book 'Anyatha Saranam Nasthi' by Smt. Vijaya Hemchand (aka Vijayamma) when I came across the following tale relating to the author's son:

"Swarming around Swami, we were all chatting one afternoon. He asked me to bring along my sleeping son. I brought my son to Swami. Everyone used to call him 'Chota Baba' (little Baba). He had a full head of crinkly hair. Swami made the boy sit in his lap and asked him, 'What is your name?' 'Have you drunk milk?' 'Would you like to eat rice?' 'Do you want to be naughty?' The boy gave replies in a cute way. Everyone was laughing. The boy was then three years old.

"Suddenly, Swami made him lie face down in His lap and began beating him hard on the back. None of us knew what to make of it. We were all stunned, and staring at Swami. Who among us had the courage to go near Swami and question Him? The boy's face looked jaded. He was yelling and crying. "Go, go away from here." Saying so, Swami pushed the boy away from Him. The poor little boy! He came running to me, sobbing. The sobs did not subside even after one hour. Every week, Swami would treat the boy like this, three or four times. The minute I took him out of the cradle, my son would say pathetically, 'Don't take me to Swami, mother,' and break into tears. I would feel very pained. But when Swami ordered me to bring the boy, how could I say no?

"Further, I had full faith and confidence in Swami that He won't do anything unless He had a strong reason for it. And whatever Swami does is for our ultimate good only. On the days that Venkamma garu [Sathya Sai Baba's elder sister] happened to be with us, she would take my son from Swami's lap, saying, 'That is enough, Swami.'

"My son was by no means mischievous. He was so quiet that no one was aware of his presence in a room. But we do not know which 'evil power' Swami had to drive away from him. When there were so many little children, why would Swami single out only my little boy and beat him, unless there was a strong reason for it? Swami must have removed some harmful aspect from my son's astrological chart. Except during this 'exorcising time', He would pamper the boy a great deal. While Swami was walking in the corridor, my son would cling to His robe. On such occasions, there would be happy smiles on Swami's face." - Anyatha Saranam Nasthi, p. 222-223.

As if anyone cares about Swami's smiles? I had to stop myself from crying after reading this story, and suddenly the fact that I had found the "3-year-old child" story didn't matter to me anymore. This event is so wrong on so many different levels; how are we to deal with a mother who just stands there and watches Sai Baba beat the living hell out of her own three-year-old child in a helpless manner? That too, despite the painful and piercing crying of the child who wasn't rescued from Sai Baba's violent mania! Is it any wonder that the poor boy cried for over an hour?

Another worrying factor was the regularity of these beatings; the author is not clear on whether the beatings took place three or four times in total at weekly intervals, or whether it took place three or four times on the same day every week or so. In any case, what does it matter? Abuse is still abuse, whether it be every day, every week or every year.

Then what are we to think when, out of a misplaced devotion, the mother continues to take her child to receive regular beatings from Sai Baba every time the latter summons and despite plaintive weeping and pleading from the child, who expresses the explicit desire not to go anywhere near the evil Baba? We hear the most ridiculous explanation that is typical of brainwashed Sai devotees everywhere: Swami has a good reason for whatever he does. Really now? Despite the author's admission that she did not know the reason for Sai Baba's violent behaviour, she just assumed that it may have something to do with removing maleficent influence from the child's horoscope!

It should be noted here that even today, Indians in general tend to be something of a superstitious lot who only do the simplest things after consulting their friendly neighborhood astrologer. Attending job interviews, births, deaths, marriages, funerals, first day at school; every mundane or otherwise inconsequential occurrence is performed nder the advice of an aged astrology expert. Be that as it may, where have you ever heard the idea that beating the living daylights out of someone removes the influence of the stars? The very idea is ridiculous and beyond sanity.

Yet another disturbing observation relates to the apparently blasé attitude of Venkamma, Sai Baba's elder sister. Giving the impression that one should have been grateful for her presence, her (Venkamma's) removal of the child from Sai's presence with just a simple "that's enough" bespeaks of an extraordinarily ambivalent attitude towards behaviour that was evidently shocking to all other onlookers. Is it possible that Venkamma was more than familiar with other incidences of Sai Baba's violence against little children, and possibly his homosexuality as well? Granted, Sai's behaviour in this instance does not count as homosexuality per se (although you hardly ever hear of his violence towards little girls) but directly witnessing an instance of child abuse and not appearing to be all that concerned brings forward a most disturbing idea to contemplate.

The last paragraph exemplifies everything that is wrong with Sai devotees in my opinion; the level of rationalisation and denial that spews forth is beyond belief and can test the very limits of incredulity. As if it makes any real difference whether Sai Baba was playful with the child at other times when a beating was scheduled every week or so. This incident took place in the year 1951 or 1952 at a time when Sai Baba was 25 or 26, given the fact that the author describes her marriage as taking place in 1948 and that this abuse took place when the child was three years old. It is appropriate to note that Sai Baba had also abused the author and her brother in 1949 for snooping around in 'forbidden' areas of the Puttaparthi village, which has described elsewhere as part of my 'Sai Baba: Shiva or Sadhaka' essay.

It is only when you consider a similar case like Alaya Rahm's, where it transpires that Al Rahm (Alaya's father) was also a victim of Sai Baba's genital oilings, does there emerge a sick and disgusting pattern of family and inter-generational abuse carried out by Sai Baba the sick pervert extraordinaire! The sad story of Sai Baba's sexual psychopathology appears to have been traced upto at least 1949 where violence, intimidation and threats have been the order of the day then as now. I strongly suspect that, with Sai's ancillary self-delusions vis-a-vis his supposed divinity and other issues, clinical psychologists would have a field day with him. For instance, what would Freud say?
This article carries an update.

Sai Baba's Kali-Yuga Boo-Boo

Whereas Judaeo-Christian religions tend to view time as a linear concept, Hinduism aka Sanathana Dharma propounds a cyclical view of time although, as one must note, these figures are 'traditional' and a clash with science should be unsurprising. Bearing in mind that we are trying to understand Sai Baba's points of view, the cycle begins with the Satya-yuga, followed by the Treta, Dvapara and Kali-yugas in succession, over and over. Don't take my word for it, have a look at what is written in the Bhagavata Purana:

"Maitreya said: 'O Vidura, the four millenniums are called the Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali yugas. The aggregate number of years of all of these combined is equal to twelve thousand years of the demigods. The duration of the Satya millennium equals 4,800 years of the years of the demigods; the duration of the Dvāpara millennium equals 2,400 years; and that of the Kali millennium is 1,200 years of the demigods.'" - Bhagavata Purana 3.11.18-19

According to the almanacs of India that are used to calculate traditional calendars, 1 year of the demigods is equal to 360 earthly years. Therefore, multiplying the above figures by 360 gives us a duration of 1,728,000 years for the Satya-yuga, 1,296,000 for Treta, 864,000 for Dvapara and 432,000 years for the Kali age. Does this sound outlandish? Perhaps so, but Sai Baba readily agrees with these figures as he avidly described them in a discourse from the Summer Showers of 1978:

"Taking this into account, the Maharishis divided time into four Yugas called Kritha Yuga, Dwapara Yuga, Thretha Yuga, and the Kali Yuga. These will keep coming back again and again. In these, the word Kritha indicates four times, and the word Thretha indicates three times. The Dwapara signifies two times, and Kali gives us an authoritative unit of measurement. According to them, 432,000 years is the basic unit and represents the number of years in a Kali Yuga. Two times this or 864,000 years represents the Dwapara Yuga. Three times this basic number of 1,296,000 years is the measure of Thretha Yuga. Four times this measure, namely, 1,728,000 years refers to Kritha Yuga. By adding all these, we get 4,320,000 years and this refers to a Maha Yuga. After a Maha Yuga, the Kritha Yuga will start again. In this manner and by assigning such measures, they interpreted time." - Source

Apparently Sai Baba was so happy about this that he even proceeded to repeat himself the next day! We should recall that these measurement sof time, even though they may conflict with science, are based on Vedic mathematics and the associated astrology. There does exist a type of science in which these measurements have their own place in reality and where entire horoscopes are constructed on the basis of these figures. In short, time - for the Eastern spiritualist - is calculated according to these figures. You gotta wonder though, when Sai Baba appears to be seemingly happy with these traditionalist figures, why does he go ahead and tell his close disciple, John S. Hislop, a completely different thing?

"In Dwapara Yuga ... 5680 years back, milk came into favour. Eleven thousand years is the full length of the Kali yuga ... Kali yuga still has 5,320 years before ending." [Taped Interview 2, "Conversations with Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba"]

Huh? That was stated by Sai Baba in January 1968, but didn't we all just agree that that the traditionalist figures are correct? How interesting that he tells Hislop one thing in 1968 and tells a different thing 10 years later.

Ah yes, and here's one for the conspiracy theorists and the fanatics; the Avatar of the Age says that the end of the world shall take place in 7288 AD. Note that down in your diaries.

White Light Blue Light: Sai Light Not Bright

You know, there's one thing about our favourite Sai Baba that doesn't get talked about so much even among devotees: the fact that he claims to be the result of an immaculate conception. After all, if the Son gets all the glory then why shouldn't the alleged Father?

And so the story goes that when Sai Baba was in the midst of a discussion with Pandit Rama Sharma and other devotees, he directly asked if he was the result of sexual intercourse or of divine impregnation, he indicated that his mother Easwaramma (who was present) should answer that question. What follows next is well known amongst the Sai community:

"Mother said, 'She [Easwaramma's mother-in-law] had dreamt of Satyanarayana Deva and she had cautioned me that I should not be frightened if something happens to me through the Will of God. That morning when I was at the well drawing water, a big ball of blue light came rolling towards me and I fainted and fell. I felt it glided into me.' Swami turned to Rama Sharma with a smile. 'There you have the answer! I was not begotten. It was Pravesha [divine conception], not Prasava [human intercourse]." - Source.

Yeah, whatever you say.

However, Sai Baba himself doesn't seem to have remembered the finer details when he retold this incident to a large gathering of devotees at his 73rd birthday party:

"Prior to the birth of the child, a very significant incident took place. Puttaparthi, was then a tiny hamlet. In the centre there was a well from which people would draw water. One day Easwaramma was fetching water from the well. All of a sudden she saw a white luminous light, emerging like lightning from the sky, entering her womb. There was a sudden gust of wind. Subbamma who came out of her house at that time saw the light entering the womb of Easwaramma. Till this day, I have not revealed this to anyone. I am disclosing this today so that you may understand the significance associated with the advent of the Avatar." - 73rd Birthday discourse

As if speaking about yourself in the third person is not enough indication of a mental health disorder, we find that his recall of his own gliding into his mummy's tummy is a tad on the hazy side. Was he a blue ball or a white ball? Was he a football? How about a plain old ball?

And then what's the reason for bringing up the topic of a gust of wind? That sounds about right; eating too much sometimes brings on a bout of wind to herald the advent of the avatar. I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry when I consider this flatulent genesis. You could surmise that it was an indication of greater things to come.

The Guru Mutual Admiration Society

I just came across this blog with a brief bio of Sri Swami Sridhar Maharaj, who appears to be part of a list of saintly figures associated with Shirdi Sai Baba. Interestingly he appears to have met Sathya Sai Baba, as follows:

"Once, Satya Sai Baba along with his disciples went to Varadpur Ashram to see Swamiji [Sridhar Maharaj]. On reaching the Ashram, he asked his disciples to maintain perfect silence and declared 'Brahma' himself was performing 'Tapas' there. Swamiji came out of his cottage and blessed all."

What a jolly rum do, when Sathya Sai Baba - allegedly God incarnate - receives blessings from other saints! But that was not what caught my attention, it was this:

"Ma Anandmayi on meeting Swamiji declared 'We are all walking up the hill of 'Parmarth'. Path is narrow and extremely difficult. Established on the top of the hill is seen Sadguru Sridhar Swami Maharaj."

So Ma Anandamayi (aka Anandamoyi Ma) pays this Sridhar Maharaj a pretty high compliment. Careful readers will note that Ma Anandanoyi praised Sathya Sai Baba to the skies in a list of quotes collected by Ram Das Awle. Awle is a curiosity who set up a website to defend Sai Baba of the homosexual paedophilia charges levelled against him, where Awle contends that avatars engaging in sexual intercourse is justified under certain circumstances! He didn't manage this with inviting severe criticism, however, but here is what Anandamoyi Ma said (courtesy of Awle's list):

“This body will speak on this question only once; don’t ask again. Sathya Sai Baba is the most powerful incarnation of God ever to come to the Earth. And there won’t be another at His level for another sixty centuries.”

Yeah right. Even though Awle's list has been severely criticised for other gurus on the list (followers of Paramahansa Yogananda strongly refute that Yogananda spoke of or about Sai Baba). It's quite common for gurus to speak highly of each other, and why not? The guru business is a rewarding one indeed; spiritual aspirants are often referred to other gurus when it turns out that the aspirant is too much of a problem, in more or less the same way that psychiatrists refer patients to one another when their caseload becomes too much!

Sai Baba has been photographed at least twice in the company of Swami Muktananda, another guru who had sex with disciples under the excuse of working their Kundalinis. So with this article, we've come across an instance of Anandamoyi Ma's praising of another guru (Sridhar Maharaj) as being right on top of the 'paramartha' hill, and he was even highly praised by the Baba too! Looks like these gurus are all in the game and protect each other's backs.

Sai Baba Bootleg Video Tape

Warning! Graphic Language!

I laughed my ass off when I stumbled across this site. No more need be said:

Enjoy the guru in the privacy of your own home!

Of all the gurus and divine incarnates, Sai Baba is my favorite. His giant afro is awesome, and he bears striking resemblance to the pre-surgery mid-70s Michael Jackson. He is the greatest. That said, I honestly don't know what the fuck he is talking about.

I was pretty excited when I found a Sai Baba videotape at the Junior League Rummage sale for $1. The tape looked legit, with a fancy full color photo-copied cover, but it turned out to be a total bootleg! I had no idea that guru bootlegs even existed, but here is the proof! The tape is about an hour long and consists primarily of Sai Baba walking around a courtyard shaking peoples hands and nodding his head. Big excitement is had when he sits in a chair a waves his finger around. That lasts about five minutes. And then at one point a bunch of guys in uniforms crowd around him and look like they are performing a spanking machine. The whole movie is narrated by some Jimmy-Carter-sounding hillbilly, who goes on and on about how great he feels to be looking at Sai Baba, and then some other crap about love and Jesus. The flute accompaniment fluctuates between some kind of Indian raga and "Amazing Grace".

I highly doubt that this tape is approved by the International Sathya Sai Baba Organisation, and if you are interested in hearing a message from Sai Baba himself, you'll be sorely disappointed. On the other hand, if you'd like to watch a guy in an orange dress with a poodle on his head meander around a courtyard for an hour, you could do a lot worse.

PROS: Very big 'fro. Pretty rockin' flute version of "Amazing Grace".
CONS: Failed to prove that God is love.

Sai Baba And The Sarvadharma Imbroglio

Afshin Khorramshahgol, a veteran ex-devotee and Sai critic, recently made a brief appearance in the public discussion boards. His intention was to critically analyse Sathya Sai Baba's affirmation of Islam as a bona-fide faith and, by extension, his inclusion of it on his 'Sarvadharma' symbol. In my opinion he carried out the task very well by way of posting relevant quotes and incidents from Islamic scriptures that highlight questionale aspects of Islamic theology and philosophy, not to mention raising eyebrows at the personal conduct of the founder, Prophet Muhummad.

Afshin, as a born Muslim who now appears to have relinquished his faith, would be reasonably knowledgeable about these affairs. I can also testify that, by virtue of my own readings into Islam over a period of around three years, that such sayings and historical incidences do exist in the Islamic scriptures as well as a lot more shocking material. I will not list examples of them here to prevent this blog from being too long, but interested people can easily research for themselves via Google.

In defence of Sathya Sai Baba, who else could make a reply but our old pal Gerald Moreno:

"SSB affirms the unity of all faiths and focuses on the unifying elements that will make his devotees (who belong to different faiths) mindful of other's diverse beliefs. SSB does not focus on divisive or controversial aspects to different faiths because that is counter-productive to his teachings on unity.

Is SSB to disavow the Islam faith because of distasteful quotes and stories? Why stop at Islam? Why not proceed to the Jewish and Christian faiths that believe in the Old Testament where there are NUMEROUS atrocities commanded by God. These atrocities have sparked valid reactions from atheists and non-believers. For example:

The list goes on and on. So now, according to La_Quake [Afshin], SSB is not only supposed to disavow Islam, he is supposed to disavow Judaism and Christianity."

Unfortunately for Gerald it's not quite so simple as that. Whereas Sai Baba tries very hard to place emphasis on the unity of all religions is his well-known strategy to look and sound appealing to as many different classes of people as possible. It's a very well-known business strategy called mass-marketing. However, it is undeniable that deeper study of said religions will reveal that divisive mechanisms are in place. Being "mindful of other's diverse beliefs" would naturally entail a working knowledge of the theological mechanics of each religion, especially those mechanics that engender an extreme discriminatory view against people of other religions. For example:

  • Few people know about the Jewish concept of Herem, which is akin to Jihad.
  • Christianity is well known for the infamous Crusades as well as the Spanish Inquisition.
  • The Islamic concept of Jihad is well known thanks to the current political climate in regards to terrorism issues.
  • A recent blog of mine briefly discussed the Islamic invasion of India, which was described by Sai Baba as "ravaging".
As such, Moreno's answer is reflective of the simpering sentimentality that is typified by Sai devotees who sound so syrupy and sweet in order to avoid a very real and pertinent issue: If Sai Baba claims to be God and is thus, by default, the originator of all the world's religions, why did he inaugurate the divisive elements in the first place?

For those of us who are no longer Sai's devotees this is not a problem for us; this is an issue that has to be mulled over by those devotees who are still held captive by a ridiculous belief system of their own making. The argument that Sai Baba teaches to emulate only the common qualities of all religions (such as love, compassion, forgiveness and all of that) and "discard" the rest does not hold water, considering that Sai Baba is also insistent that followers of other religions do not convert from their religions in order to become his followers. Furthermore, he teaches that followers of other religions should stay within their respective fields and become better practitioners thereof. Consequently, a Sai follower of another religion is required to know everything about his own religion in order to practice it better, good and bad elements. The fact that Sai Baba insists on full practice of religion logically leads to the practice of divisive beliefs, which is what has been going on all these centuries anyway. :-)

All of these well-documented issues leave Sai Baba and his devotees looking rather confused and bewildered about their respective roles.

Moreno continued:

"Now, let's move on to Hinduism and the Kurukshetra War that Lord Krsna ALLOWED to happen, in which MILLIONS of people died. Of course, those indoctrinated with these beliefs will explain it away in terms of their own belief system and say that Lord Krsna allowed this "righteous war" (Krsna's words) to happen because it rid the Earth of wikedness (which is ironic considering that the world was rid of wickedness at the dawning of the Kali Yuga, which is marked by wickedness)! Lord Krsna even allowed the Yadava Clan to slaughter themselves in an orgy of bloodlust as a result of a curse.

"So now, according to La_Quake, SSB is to disavow Islam, Judaism, Christianity and Hinduism."

How amusing that the ideas Gerald Moreno dismisses as "indoctrination" have been affirmed as real and true by none other than his own guru, Sai Baba himself. To get an idea of the Baba's own views regarding the Mahabharatha war, please consider the following quotes:

"When the righteous Pandavas were harassed by wicked Kauravas, the beauteous Krishna appeared and saved them. The Lord can never design violence and blood shed. Love is His instrument, non-violence His Message. He achieves the correction of the evil-minded through education and example. But it may be asked, why did Kurukshetra happen? It was a surgical operation and therefore cannot be described as an act of violence. The Surgeon saves life through the beneficial use of His Knife." - VirtueScience

"Let me tell you that emphatic declarations of the truth by Avathars were made so clearly and so unmistakably only by Krishna. In spite of the declaration, you will notice in the career of the same Krishna that he underwent defeat in his efforts and endeavors, on a few occasions; you must also note that those defeats too were part of the drama that he had planned and that he himself directed. For example, when many kings pleaded with him to avert the war with the Kauravas, he confessed that his mission to the Kaurava Court for ensuring peace had 'failed'! But, he had not willed that it should succeed! He had decided that war would be waged! His mission was intended to publish the greed and iniquity of the Kauravas and to condemn them before the whole world." - Discourse, 9th June 1974

It seems that the guru-disciple relationship that exists between Gerald Moreno and Sai Baba has gone awry, where Sai Baba clearly believes and preaches the idea that the Mahabharatha war was the very will of Krishna no matter what Moreno says. As for the destruction of the Yadava clan, this is also another incident that Sai Baba describes in terms of divine will and judgment as is evidenced from Chapter 10 of Bhagavatha Vahini, a text authored by the Baba. A sample quote follows:

"We cannot sense the mystery of His play. We have failed to understand it. There is no profit in worrying over that failure, now. With that deluding human form, He moved with us, mixed with us, dined with us, behaved as if He was our kinsman and well-wisher, our friend and guide, and saved us from many a calamity that threatened to overwhelm us."

We would appreciate it very much if Gerald Moreno could sit down and deeply absorb himself in the teachings of his master before attempting to speak on subjects that he clearly knows very little about. Mind you, this is not the first time that this disciple has clashed with his guru; Moreno previously disagreed with Sai Baba's views on the matter of Krishna's 16,000 wives. Be that as it may, these are issues for Moreno to consult with Sai Baba in order to attain the correct understanding.

However, he continued:

"And then there is the Russian Dictator Stalin, who was an atheist and instituted a terrorist-like police state marked by oppression and murder that brought suffering to MILLIONS of people. So even Atheism has to be tossed out of the window as well.

"So what is La_Quakes point? He doesn't have one. He is simply grasping for straws because straws are all he has to grasp."

Um, but there is no question of Sai Baba's ever advocating atheism in the first place, so what is Moreno's point?

In this way the discussion relates to a fundamental aspect of Sai Baba's message: the unity of all religions. This Sarvadharma ('all religion') symbol was sketched by the Baba himself. As N. Kasturi wrote in the official hagiography:

"When I approached Him for directions about a cover design for the 1967 Sivarathri Special Number of the Sanathana Sarathi Magazine, Baba seized His pen and drew on a piece of paper a five disked design, with petals in between, enclosing a circle, inside which I could print His own portrait. On the disks, He Himself drew the symbols of the major religions of mankind: The Pranava or Om to indicate the Hindu faith; the Wheel to symbolize the religion taught by the Buddha; A sheaf of flames, the Sacred Fire, which the Zoroastrians worship; the Crescent and the Star, as a reminder of Islam, and the Cross as the symbol of Christianity!"

Given that disagreements exist in regards to Christianity, Hinduism and Islam's respective inclusions in Sai Baba's 'Sarvadharma' symbol, what of the other two? Buddhism doesn't even acknowledge the existence of God (so why is it included?), whereas Zoroastrianism is very much a minority religion. Zoroastrianism is something of a puzzlement; Sai Baba allegedly stated that he included this religion in his sarvadharma symbol precisely because of it's minority status and that he wanted to revive awareness of it's ancient principles and not let it lie forgotten. Fair enough, but what about other religions such as Sikhism? The 2001 Indian Census registered a total of 69,601 Parsees (alternative name for Zoroastrians) whereas there are a total of 19.3 million Sikhs!

Another strange fact relates to the later addition of Judaism as a sixth religion to cater to the sensibilities of Western Sai devotees. On the face of it this appears to be a reasonable addition to satisfy the Jewish diaspora, especially when a significant amount of Western Sai devotees are Jews. However, you have to consider the difference between the Sai Organisation in India and that of the US; they are different. Jews number around 5200 in today's India and are very much a minority whereas the 19.3 million Sikhs are still waiting patiently for their inclusion.

And then there is Sai Baba's famous saying:

"Let the different faiths exist. Let them flourish. Let the glory of God be sung in all languages and in a variety of tunes. That should be the ideal. Respect the differences between the faiths and recognise them as valid so long as they do not extinguish the flame of unity."

In the light of what I've discussed above vis-a-vis the inherently divisive mechanisms within each religion, doesn't Sai Baba's last sentence pose a logical contradiction? How can you simultaneously respect the divisive and hateful differences whilst contemplating on and affirming the unity thereof?

This is an issue that highlights exactly what is wrong with Sai Baba's whole philosophy and it is also something that his devotees will have to wrestle with for many years to come.

The Pen Is Mightier Than The Mouth

Sathya Sai Baba is quite famous for talking a lot of nonsense, not least on the subject of his own divinity. Not satisfied with first claiming to be the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba, he has proceeded to identify himself publicly with all other forms of God; Krishna, Rama, Durga, Shiva, Ganesha, you name it and he is it! "All names and forms are mine", he says. Don't you go thinking that he restricts himself to Hindu gods; with the steady influx of Western devotees, we witnessed him declaring himself in 1972 as the Second Coming of Christ. Sly asides made in private reveal that he also thinks of himself to be the Maitreya Buddha, the Mahdi, Kalki, and even the formless Allah!

Whereas it is one thing to say something in public or in private - which can be denied at any time - it is quite another to write it down. And so I remembered that I have a printed copy of a letter that Sathya Sai Baba wrote to a devotee, and which has been reprinted in a bhajan book that was sold at Sai Baba's Whitefield and Puttaparthi ashrams in 1993/1994. What is says is quite revealing:

Click on image to view larger version.

The official text is as follows:

"There was no one to know who I am till I created the world, at My pleasure, with one word. Immediately earth and sky were formed, mountains rose up, rivers started flowing, sun, moon and stars sprang out of nowhere to prove My existence. Came all forms of life - plants, insects, beasts, birds and men. Various powers were bestowed upon them under My orders. The first place was granted to man, and My knowledge was placed in man's mind."

The exact text is as follows:

There was no one To know who I am till I created This world at my pleasure with one word. immediately mountains rose up. immediately rivers strated running. earth below and sky over its head oceans, seas lands and watersheds Sun, moon and desert sands sprang up from on where to prove my existance
came all forms. of human beings mankind beasts and birds flying, speaking hearing and all. powers were bestowed upon Them under my orders. The first place was. granted to mankind and my knowledge was placed. in (His) mind.
Come one come all Let us not be ungrateful called. Let us faiTh fully serve (SAI) Him and Love Him Love Him Love Him

With blessings

Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The date of this letter is unknown and I would personally assume that it was written at a very early age, somewhere in his 20s or 30s. At first glance, you'd think that God incarnate might at least have correct grammar and spelling skills without minding the vast depths of his extremely high opinion of himself.

Although this statement was taken and printed in Sai literature (with grammar and spelling corrected of course) very few people knew that this originated in a letter penned by Sai Baba himself. Anybody who is familiar with Sai literature and has seen printed copies of other letters written by Sai Baba can verify without a doubt that this above letter is consistent with the same style of handwriting. And while we're on that subject, couldn't God incarnate be a tad neater?

Another interesting point is in the last line where Sai Baba names himself as God (in brackets) in the middle of inviting the whole world to be his devotees. The whole section (beginning with "Come one come all" is missing from the mainstream printed edition and is a marked indication that worried editors were concerned that people would not take kindly to such broad statements of divinity.

So there we have it, folks; concrete evidence of Sai Baba's grand self-delusion preserved for posterity.

UPDATE May 24th 2006: It has come to our attention that the recipient of the written letter has been noted in official Sai literature. As is written in the fourth part of 'Sathyam Sivam Sundaram', Sathya Sai Baba's official hagiography:

"In a written message to Shri. R.R. Chatterji of the Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Calcutta, announcing the mission for which He has assumed this human form, Baba made a declaration which nobody since the days of Lord Krishna had the good fortune to listen to: 'There was no one to know who I am till I created the world, at My pleasure, with one word. Immediately earth and sky were formed, mountains rose up, rivers started flowing, sun, moon and stars sprang out of nowhere to prove My existence. Came all forms of life - plants, insects, beasts, birds and men. Various powers were bestowed upon them under My orders. The first place was granted to man, and My knowledge was placed in man's mind.'"

This is recorded here in case any mischievious Sai devotee proceeds to argue that the letter is a forgery and a fraud. There's no arguing with an official hagiography that was written under Sai Baba's direct supervision and approval, and there's no arguing with a scan of the concerned document.

Kadugodi Days

Earlier today I was reflecting on my memories of living in Sai Baba's Whitefield ashram. It was a mystery to me where all the devotees would go throughout the day. They all came out in the morning for Sai Baba's darshan and then for the rest of the day they would disappear, only to reappear again in the afternoons for the evening darshan and bhajans. It was later told to me that the majority of the Westerners would take shopping trips into nearby Bangalore via taxis, in clear contravention of Sai Baba's instructions never to go out of the ashram. Of course there were plenty to stay behind and do seva in the Western canteen but it was true to say that the bulk of the visitors would skive off and go shopping, eat meat in restaurants and God knows what else.

As I considered Sai Baba to be my Lord and God, I would spend the bulk of each day working hard in the Indian Canteen. It was a task that I enjoyed immensely as I always enjoy the joy of seva as I do even now. My duties entailed clearing up the spilled food leftovers from the tables, washing and then wiping the tables down, helping to cook chapatis (rounds of unleavened bread) and then serve the food at lunchtime. I would start all of this work from breakfast time onwards. If I had it my way, I would have done seva all day long right up to the end of dinner, but the Indian canteen was located outside of Sai Baba's Whitefield ashram and was a good 10-15 minute walk away. There were frightening reports of robberies and assaults upon devotees that took place under cover of darkness and, because I was just a young lad of 14, my mother thus forbade me to perform seva at dinnertime so I did seva in the Western Canteen instead (located inside the ashram).

I was reflecting on my memories of the friendships ethat I forged and enjoyed while working in the Indian canteen. There was a real sense of teamwork, discipline, love and co-operation. Of all the workers there, I fondly remember three people who were my closest associates: Prasadam, Ramesh and Guruprasad. Prasadam ('Prasad' for short) was a very nice guy with a cheerful smile who was always happy to help. He dutifully kept aside a couple of idlis every day for my mother who suffers from diabetes and was not always able to make it in time to eat a set meal. He was the one who gave m my jobs and guided me through every step of the process until I was able to do the job with myself. As he was in charge of the canteen administration I didn't always get the time to sit and have a friendly chat with him, but when we did sit down to eat he was always fun to talk with. Of course, the main topic of conversation was Sai Baba and his leelas.

I only knew Guruprasad for a short time in 1993. As far as I remember, he was a computer graduate from Bombay who had come to spend his summer with Sai Baba and work in the canteen as a way of doing seva. My association with him usually started doing the cooking process as he was favoured with the 'premier' job of cooking rice, which was the main dish. Later when he came to join us in serving it we would talk to each other (of course about Swami and his leelas) and have a good time. He was always very nice to me, making sure that I had eaten my food and so on. We were all generally of a young age so we all got along as boys do, sometimes even childishly. There was a real concept of brotherhood.

And last, but certainly not the least, how could I not speak about my dear Ramesh? We used to talk and sing bhajans for hours, in between our spiritual discussions. We were agreat trio; myself, Prasad and Ramesh, but I was much closer to Ramesh as we spent most of our time together. First we would serve breakfast and then, after I had cleaned up, we would make a start on the lunch preparations by cooking the chapatis. The womenfolk used to make the dough and roll it into the circular shapes and then had them over to Ramesh and I, who would cook them on the grill while yakking endlessly about Sai Baba and singing bhajans. Ramesh and I were extraordinarily close, we would also talk about anything and everything. At that time I was inclined to worship Shiva and he was a Shaivite too; we would talk about the Shiva-centric aspects of religion and how Sai Baba was really Shiva. Ramesh was the guy who first told me about Pandit Gopi Krishna's book about Kundalini. In fact he was reluctant to lend it to me as he knew that I would beg him to let me borrow it. Under duress, he allowed me to read the first page and, sure enough, I was so engrossed by the narration that I wanted to read further and he pulled the book away from me to my laughing taunts of being unfair.

I was so enthusiastic about my friendship with Ramesh that I would speak about him in glowing terms. One day my mother made a sarcastic remark about my high praises about Ramesh, asking me if I had made him my God. I took that very hard since we were in the presence of Sai Baba ("God"!) and the next day I hardly spoke to him, even to his surprise, while we did our work.

Sai Baba used to have evening sessions with the male students of his Whitefield college every night straight after the evening bhajans until around 8 or 8.30pm every night. Some permanent sevadals and permanent residents were also allowed access to these evening sessions although they couldn't be in the same room as Sai Baba and the boys, and used to sit around on the staircase and on the downstairs floor. I found out that Ramesh was one of those permanent sevadals who attended those sessions at least twice. He used to happily tell me of what he used to hear: Sai Baba cutting jokes with the students and just general camaraderie. On one occasion he was carryong a rose which he offered to Sai Baba for blessing, which the Baba did. Ramesh was so excited about this that he kept it secret, occasionally pulling it out to have a look at it and smelling it and eating some of the petals. Of course he gave me a petal too, which I gladly ate.

There is much that I can speak about Ramesh and Prasad, my two very good friends. The last time I saw them, Prasad had "graduated". Prasad was also an official sevadal worker (blue scarf and all) and was placed at vantage points in the darshan hall in order to supervise the waiting devotees during darshan, along with the rest of the sevadal workers. Apparently one day, Sai Baba had called Prasad to talk to him right there in the middle of a darshan for a very long time. To everyone's surprise ("Why is Swami talking for so long to a lowly seva dal?") Sai Baba even materialised a ring for him right there and then. It was plainly obvious that his years of dedicated seva in the canteen were bearing fruit and he was getting his "reward". As if that wasn't enough, Sai Baba had "promoted" Prasad to being his personal attendant and he was granted the opportunity to clean the Baba's apartments and other duties. On the rare occasions when he visited the Indian Canteen (to eat lunch!), everyone, including myself, used to stare at him with a sense of awe. I jokingly asked him what he did to deserve such a high position and what was his secret. He simply replied, with his usual cheerful smile, "whatever you do, do it with love."

The last time I saw Ramesh was sometime in 1997 I think, when we ran into each other in Prashanti Nilayam, Sai Baba's Puttaparthi ashram. Our closeness was still very much there although obviously some things had changed with the passing of time, we couldn't goof around as we used to do in Whitefield. He joyously told me that he had got married for some months and gave me his home address, telling me that I must visit him. I did promise to do so but unfortunately I never got the chance. I still have that piece of paper somewhere and I should consider writing him a letter one of these days if only to make sure he is OK.

You know, although I spend a lot of time on this blog criticising Sai Baba and his fraudulence, there's no denying that there are some positive things to the experience too. Sai devotees, for all their fanaticism, spiritual ignorance and intellectual laziness, are overall not a bad bunch of people when it comes to spending time with them. Personal growth consists of acknowledging both the good and bad experiences and the processing thereof. I have very fond memories of my friendships with Ramesh and Prasad, as well as the countless other devotees who I met and regularly associated with.

Shitu Chudasama - Man With A Plan

With reference to the previous blog about the upcoming UK National Youth Pilgrimage 2006, a further report available for download from the Sai Youth website informs us of the 'Sadhana Plan' that every youth member is expected to follow on a daily basis without fail. And all so that they are physically, mentally and spiritually prepared for their great meeting with God this November. Never mind that "God" invited all of them two years ago, and is likely to have ulterior motives with so much fresh and budding youth around and may well partake of the forbidden fruit as per his usual habits.

The Youth must engage upon the following daily programme:

  • Stepping Stone 1 – Namasmarana (chanting of the Name)
  • Stepping Stone 2 – Fasting once a week
  • Stepping Stone 3 – Conducting Weekly Youth Study Circles
  • Stepping Stone 4 – Ceiling on Desires Programme
  • Stepping Stone 5 – Communication with Parents
  • Stepping Stone 6 – Supporting the Centre
  • Stepping Stone 7 – Eat Healthily and practice Vegetarianism
  • Stepping Stone 8 – Practice Daily Jyoti Meditation
  • Stepping Stone 9 – No Mixing between Boys and Girls at Sai Events

Now some of these things are par for the course when it comes to spirituality and following the spiritual path, but it is interesting to see how certain things have been interpreted and what Sai Baba has to say on certain elements. Let's check it out:

Fasting One Day a Week -

"At the World Youth Conferences in 1997 and 1999 Swami instructed youth to Control their senses."
Now this is funny, especially since I personally attended the 1997 Youth Conference when I was still a devotee. Sathya Sai Baba's message would have gained that added conviction and been much more effective if he wasn't found to have been boffing one of the boys there at the time.

"What is involved with this sort of fasting is as follows: you should have only one proper meal a day. You may snack on as many Fruits and Nuts throughout the day as you like and you may also drink Milk (hot/cold) and various fruit juices. To get started you need to choose a particular day of the week and stick to it until we go in November e.g. Many Sai Baba devotees fast on a Thursday, Thursday is the day of the Guru and by fasting on a Thursday, many devotees of Sai Baba feel that they are able to focus on him more throughout the day. This type of fasting is one that is advocated in the ancient Vedas and Upanishads. It was done in ancient times, and also done by many people today, to please the Lord."

Well, not strictly. If ancient Vedas and Upanishads are brought to the table then we may well go ahead and strongly suggest the observance of Ekadashi, which is a practice grounded in ancient Vedic tradition and which has received scant attention in the Sai Organisation so far despite it's mandatory status in said traditions. And of course they must fast on the obligatory Thursday, why not?

Youth Study Circles -

"It was concluded at a meeting of overseas Central Co-ordinators during Swami’s 80th Birthday celebrations that Youth are not diving deep into Swami’s teachings. In order to understand the mission and teachings of Swami, youth should hold regular study circles. Therefore, the 3rd Steeping Stone of our Pilgrimage sadhana is to conduct weekly-bi-weekly Study circles across the country. I would like each youth to go back to their centres and organise weekly study circles. Youth should meet in a disciplined manner, read and put into practice Swami’s discourses especially the discourses given by Swami at the World Youth Conferences in 1997 and 1999. Spend a few moments meditating together and discussing how you are going to aid your own spiritual transformation."

Yes, because it's not enough that they're brainwashed already, Mr. Shitu, they require further treatment before they achieve that elite status of mindlezz zombification whereby complete self-surrender is offered to Sai Baba and he shalt do what he wilt with them.

Eat Healthily & Practise Vegetarianism

"Try this for the next 9 months and see how good you feel!"

Followed-up with no less than five anti-meat quotes by Sai Baba, it leaves you wondering how seriously Sai devotees take the teachings never mind the youth. Whereby Sai Baba has repeatedly exhorted his followers to give up eating meat and whereas they continue to disobey him on this point, it only remains to be seen whether any hardcore carnivores among the Sai Youth can manage to make and keep a serious commitment to halting their consumption of meat and meat products from now until November. Good luck boys! At the same time it break our heart to see the difficulties of getting Sai devotees to do the smallest thing for example, in regards to your earnings, why dressing-up and similar events are frowned upon.

No Mixing Between Boys & Girls At Sai Organisation Events

This is so good that I may as well include the three quotations from Sai Baba in support of this point:

"No mixing between Boys and Girls at Sai Organisation events. This is a request that has come direct from Swami. If we are true devotees and want to please him then we should pay heed to his likes and dislikes. Youth should always bear in mind that they are members of a spiritual organisation not a social organisation. The aim of the Organisation is to 'help man recognise the inherent divinity within him'."

“Swami does not like Boys mixing with Girls” – Sathya Sai Baba, Nov 2001

“These gatherings have to be taken seriously and a sincere desire to know more must enthuse your every moment. They are not to be used for promoting personal contacts and social mixing” – Sathya Sai Baba, May 1979

"In today’s world, it is important that young people understand the nature of love. Many mix with members of the opposite sex, calling them boy friend and girlfriend. If you really love each other you must get married and not continue living as friends. Young people should learn what is truth, what is love, what is God, and what is the relationship between the mind and the world. Fear sin and uphold morality in society. Radiate human values and ensure unity in thought, word and deed". – Sathya Sai Baba, 17-7-1997

Right. Not that I approve of or encourage premarital sex, promiscuity, teenage pregnancies and the like, but does Mr. Shitu understand the true consequences of separating adolescent males and females? When it goes on even amongst the Baba's students and is covered up by the staff to protect reputations and prestige, one wonders who is really making the genuine and honest efforts at truth, purity and holiness here.

So Shitu Chudasama, the man with a plan, this is the formula that each Sai Youth must follow in order to make himself or herself a perfect candidate to be worthy Sai devotees. One can only dream of someone grabbing every ounce of self-rspect they stil have and wake up from the delusion that they're all being coerced into believing as reality.

UK Youth Heading To Sai Baba Abuse

With all we have to worry about regarding Sathya Sai Baba's extremely worrying craze for homosexual paedophilia, that have been uncovered and exposed by way of sensational newspaper articles in the international media as well as two television documentaries (one by the BBC), we've uncovered disturbing news that the Sai Youth of UK are heading to Sai Baba's home base of Puttaparthi in order to participate in the Baba's 81st birthday celebrations and other welfare works during the week of 23rd November 2006.

Nice picture, shame about the (ISKCON) copyright violations. A click on the title of this post will enable a download of the 18th February (2006) Meeting Report from the official Sai Youth website whereby a brief account was given of the events that transpired. Among other very worrying (and also humorous) happenings, it was revealed that Shitu Chudasama - the National UK Youth Co-ordinator - outlined the "nuts and bolts" of the upcoming trip:

  • In April 2004, Bhagawan gave a Divine Commandment for the entire Youth of UK to come in November 2006.
  • Those youth who are eligible to come on the trip must be between 16yrs – 35yrs, although 15yrs olds will be considered. Youth must be living in UK, have no expectations of interview, proximity, seating etc…. and most important of all be flexible at all times and be prepared to expect the unexpected.
  • All youth who enrol on the National Youth Pilgrimage will automatically go forward to receive a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award providing they meet the criteria set by the National Youth Pilgrimage, the Sadhana programme and the Award Scheme.
  • Dates: We are planning to leave between 11th – 12th November 2006, returning back on either 25th – 26th November 2006 (subject to airlines).
  • GUIDELINES: Each youth that decides to join the group must: Adhere to the Sadhana Plan for the Pilgrimage, Attend all Monthly Meetings, Attend all the All-night bhajans, Attend the extra-curricular courses that will be on offer to you to broaden your spiritual knowledge. More information to follow. This trip is not about interviews; the basic rule is we must have no expectations whatsoever. Please note that if you do not want to follow these guidelines you may be refused permission to join.
  • This trip is about Personal and Spiritual Development: On a Spiritual level - Spiritual transformation; Inner level – help youth establish a 1-2-1 relationship with Swami; Physical level - is to take ordinary Sai Youth and bring back Leaders
  • We are not taking a musical choir or cultural programme – U.K has been exemplary in the musical items and cultural programmes that it has taken to Swami since the early 80s. We have received much grace as a nation.
  • However now we must show Bhagawan that we are mature, responsible adults. We cannot keep demanding. We must lead the World by example. Let us go there, and fully focus and contemplate on the Lord. Only then will we be worthy recipients of His grace.

My, what can I say? I can only express my concentrated revulsion and disgust at the fact that Sai Baba has invited the entire UK Youth to visit him a full two years before the occasion. It's easy to see what's on his mind if even 15-year-olds are accepted, bearing in mind that the UK Age of Consent for sexual relations is 16. The old pervert has been drooling for exactly 24 months now and is set to salivate for a further six months before he can make a grab for the baby oil with his filthy paws.

What to speak of the Youth setting their sights on the achievement of Duke of Edinburgh Awards. For what exactly? Clearly this is yet another brazen attempt to garner publicity for the Sai Organisation. We can take it for granted that, should the Youth attain these Awards, they will be broadcasting their accomplishment all over the place as they do with everything else, and of course they will put it all down to the "grace" of Sai Baba. This is unbelievable. Something has to be done; a whole plane-load of fresh adolescent boys flying to India for Sai Baba to drool and perve all over them, this cannot happen.

Naughty Children: Gerald 'Joe' Moreno

Lisa De Witt / Simon Brace / Gerald 'Joe' Moreno

And finally we spank the third (and hopefully last) Sai-defender.

Gerald 'Joe' Moreno (New Mexico, USA) - This guy is so troubling that I truly do not know where to start. Despite initially claiming not to be a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba (more on this later) he has gone ahead and eclipsed Lisa De Witt as the main protagonist of the pro-Sai team of defence. Needless to say, this involves abusing, defaming and slandering a variety of anti-Sai activists and ex-devotees with all manner of spurious claims and irresponsible half-baked arguments to support a self-serving agenda. It is not an exaggeration to describe him as the undisputed king of nitpickers and armchair critics.

Another of his troubling claims is the fact that he himself claims to have been 'oiled' by Sai Baba. Careful readers of the Sathya Sai controversy will note that genital oilings are a common feature of Sai Baba's private 1-2-1 meetings with younger male devotees, whether or not they admit that the oiling is sexual in nature. Despite the wide reports of genital oilings of young boys and men by the Baba, it is strange to note how Gerald Moreno claims that his own oiling by Sai Baba was not a sexual occurrence by virtue of Sai Baba's hands being placed on Moreno's lower stomach. Although Moreno cannot give any coherent explanation for Sai Baba's questionable behaviour and why such oilings take place in the first instance, some have questioned the veracity of his own experience as evidenced by an exchange that took place between Gerald and B. Premanand.

One thing that is clear is that, despite claims to the contrary, Gerald appears to have suffered some sort of trauma along the way in his experiences with Sai Baba. As well as confessing on his personal webpage that he almost went insane twice, the thing that I find simultaneously curious and disturbing is his commitment to defending an alleged homosexual paedophile and murderer who claims to be God incarnated on earth, and that he is not a devotee of said pervert.

This non-devotee status is an interesting issue in itself. An earlier version of his webpage stated the following:

"I am not a Sathya Sai Baba devotee. Nevertheless, I have had many positive, powerful and spiritual experiences with SSB, as I have had with any other spiritual personalities. I do not belong to, go to, or affiliate myself with SSB Centers or the SSO."

Later, there was a significant change:

"I am not a Sathya Sai Baba devotee. I was a devotee from the age of 18 to the age of 25. I had/have basic philosophical differences of opinion, with several aspects to SSB's teachings (in particular, God Concepts & Karma), and I left the Sai Movement for that reason. Nevertheless, I have had many beautiful, powerful and spiritual experiences with SSB, as I have had with many other spiritual personalities. My opinion about Sathya Sai Baba (based on my personal experiences with him) is positive. I do not belong to, go to, or affiliate myself with SSB Centers or the SSO. I am an open-minded (but not gullible) agnostic."

Uh huh. I have strong suspicions that the reason he changed his position thus was because he was feeling the heat from people who were openly wondering why he has committed a significant amount of time and energy writing in defence of a troubled avatar who he does not believe in. It appears to have been a cynical move to gain legitimacy for his viewpoint by claiming that he has a reason for investment. Even then he fails, as his current activity does not represent his current beliefs about Sai Baba. He maintains a total of three pro-Sai sites and possibly more, two of which include devotional content with pictures, biographies, and the like. The amount of time he spends defending an individual he claims not to believe in frankly makes him look a little silly. Suffice it to say, he has no need to make "excuses" for Sathya Sai Baba because he himself believes that Sai Baba has sexually abused men.

As stated in his FAQ:

In any case, and despite his efforts to defame ex-devotees, it appears that the general public do not seem very much interested in what he has to say. I know of at least three incidents where his arguments were ridiculed either in private or in public and where he lay thoroughly defeated and humiliated. The last one, which by all accounts left him suffering a pretty savage beating (under the name of 'Equalizer'), took place at the Guruphiliac blog during a comment-war on a negative piece about Sai Baba. That's a wonderful example of how, despite the rabid frothing-at-the-mouth caterwauling that Sai-defenders indulge in, people are far too uninterested and keep their eye on the ball with regards to Sai Baba's own crimes against his devotees. Whenever Gerald Moreno comes across a place where the Sai sex stories have entered the mainstream consciousness, you can be sure that is guaranteed to suffer a crushing defeat.

I mentioned the above in relation to his most recent activities; his embarassing failure at Guruphiliac enabled him to become full of rage and he promptly created an attack-page on his website against the webmaster of the Guruphiliac blog. A large part of his attack consisted of several references to human excrement (thirteen in all) which, to me, seemed entirely unreasonable. I had also noticed that, like his friends Lisa De Witt and Simon Brace, he also seemed to be developing an unhealthy fascination with the anus. How bitterly ironic that whereas Lisa and Simon develop fascinations for the orifice in question, Moreno goes even further and preoccupies himself with what is expelled from said orifice.

Judging by his personal website, Gerald appears to be something of a highly emotional fellow. When he doesn't suffer fits of plaintive weeping, he chants what he refers to as 'positive affirmations' to himself. Here is an example of one such affirmation:

"I am a Persistently Positive weed! I Grow! Grow! Grow! Despite being chopped, poisoned or pulled! My Roots are Deep and Alive! I Thrive where others fail! I never give up! I am a Persistently Positive weed! I Rule the Garden of My Life!"

Yes, this is the limit of Gerald Moreno's sense of self-esteem; he is a weed in the garden of his life. Upon realising how embarrassing this and other affirmations sounded for him, he remarked that I am providing him with plenty of 'fertilizer'. Indeed, just see how this connects with the anus and excrement fascinations as shown above; Gerald views himself as a weed covered with manure, animal excrement.

What ensued next in the Guruphiliac episode was interesting because it appeared that the Guruphiliac had enemies of his own. What else could Gerald Moreno do but ally with them in his own hateful crusade? "The enemy of my enemy is my friend", indeed!

Unfortunately for Gerald, this alliance was to prove his undoing. His new friends were and are the ardent followers of Rasa von Werder, a female guru who appreciates monetary donations to build her own matriarchal church. A fair ambition you'd think, until it becomes clear that there is more to Ms. Werder than meets the eye. For a start, Rasa (real name Kellie Everts) believes that stripping for men at the age of 45 is an effective fundraising and recruitment strategy. Having slept with more than a thousand men by 1978 by her own admission, she has also made around nine appearances in Playboy magazine. If that wasn't enough to send you into a stunned silence, it turns out that Ms. Werder (a.k.a. 'Kinky Kellie') is a porn star who produces her own movies that regularly involve depraved and disgusting scenes of urination and simulated eating of excrement. Her website also hosts several pages of soft-porn pictures featuring her in licentious poses with other female models.

And Gerald 'Joe' Moreno is affiliated with these people?

It looks like his crusade to "expose the Sai Baba exposers" is doomed. Considering the haughty tone he often takes in his criticism of ex-devotees, it is unsurprising to note that he has nothing to say about the unsavoury proclivities of his compadres Lisa De Witt and Simon Brace. Another one bites the dust. Unsurprisingly, Gerald Moreno withdrew from public discussion after all of these embarrassing facts about his disturbing associations and scatology became public knowledge, although it is only a matter of time before he resurfaces elsewhere at another time.

UPDATE: Just seventeen minutes after this blog was last published, Gerald Moreno resurfaced and issued a denial of his affiliation with Rasa von Werder. After several weeks of this information being discussed in full public view, it took just seventeen minutes for him to do some damage control and save what was left of his reputation. Employing a pretence of innocence, Gerald claims that the only connection that exists is because Rasa von Werder provided a link to his SaiSathyaSai website on her own site. Clearly he forgot the extensive linking to his site on Rasa's other websites, yahoogroups and blogs as well as high praise for a "scholarly analysis" of Guruphiliac's psychology. The fact that Gerald holds no recognised qualifications in psychology or psychiatry, as well as the fact that his "scholarly" analysis was born out of being defeated on Guruphiliac's website and centered around excrement, says it all.

Gerald Moreno has slandered and maligned respectable and elderly people as being anti-Semites and much worse, simply because their writings were passed on from person to person and eventually ended up on sites of questionable affiliation. Using the same paltry standards, we have no problem with connecting Gerald Moreno to ex-porn stars who produce the most vile and disgusting perverted pornographic movies, what to speak of his direct affiliations with abusive and hateful Sai devotees who suffer from alcoholism and grow their own marijuana.

UPDATE May 5 2006: Embarrassed at his situation of being the most vocal defender of Sathya Sai Baba, of the latter's alleged crimes of homosexual paedophilia and murder amongst other things, Gerald 'Joe' Moreno has changed his own views on the issue of Sai Baba's sexual molestations of young males. Whereas previously he believed that Sai Baba was guilty of sexual abuse, he now claims to have retracted this view due to a development in a legal case against Sai Baba (to be discussed at a future date).

As per his FAQ:

The fact remains that the case itself does not in any way deny the sex abuse claims of the plaintiff, and therefore we submit that Gerald has simply tried to find a convenient excuse to rid himself of the embarrassment he felt whenever his beliefs were pointed out to contradict his own actions. While also claiming not to be a Sai devotee, Gerald has exhibited the exact behaviour of a Sai devotee which is to flip-flop on his position on Sai Baba whenever facts are brought to light that further enunciate the fraud that is Sai Baba.

After this, he went back into hiding.

UPDATE June 15 2006: Gerald Moreno recently confessed to having dreams about me on his stalkblog. Among the more disturbing elements, he alleges dreaming of spying on me while being present in my private bedroom. His esteemed colleague, Lisa De Witt, also let slip on a public discussion board that Gerald had been having dreams of me on several other occasions.

Considering the extent and the efforts that Gerald has expended in demonising me on his stalkblog as well as publishing scurrillous attacks about me on his website, it has now become tragically evident that Moreno is completely consumed in his crazed and pathological obsession with me.

WHEREAS Gerald Moreno regularly updates his stalkblog by rehashing his malicious and distorted propaganda against me, as well as distorting issues in ways that suit his aggressive agenda,

WHEREAS Gerald Moreno has claimed to be observing complete celibacy on Sai Baba's direct and personal order to him,

WHEREAS Gerald Moreno has agreed that an apt description of his psychosexual state is that of asexuality, effectively stating that he harbours no attraction or sexual desires towards women,

WHEREAS Gerald Moreno has publicly displayed an engrossing fascination towards me, even going so far as to confess the contents of his dreams,

WHEREAS Gerald Moreno has publicly presented himself as an oversensitive and effusive spiritualist and bordering on outright effeminacy,

Whereas Gerald Moreno has created and regularly maintains not one, but two stalkblogs against me,

WHEREAS Gerald Moreno has recently re-formatted his stalkblog in a neon pink theme,

WHEREAS Gerald Moreno has recently confessed to having intimate dreams about me,

I have hereby concluded that Gerald 'Joe' Moreno is a homosexual.

For clarification I should state here that the issue of sexuality means very little in the exposure of Sathya Sai Baba, but for the purpose of bring this information to public attention I decided that people should know the disturbing and documented facts about those who publicly defend Sathya Sai Baba, who is himself an alleged homosexual pedophile. Moreover, I find it extremely disturbing that, along with his homosexual colleagues, Lisa De Witt and Simon Brace, he would keep the issue of his sexuality a closely-guarded secret.

UPDATE June 17 2006: A full twenty hours and five minutes after the publishing of the last update, Gerald Moreno made moves to disguise his discovered sexuality issues by indulging in some serious projection. Inventing a story about my own supposed sexuality confusion, he proceeded to state this as the reason for daubing his blog with a neon pink theme. Unfortunately for Gerald, this is not a logical proposition as even the most 'greenest' professional knows that presentation is everything. Consequently, the choice of a neon pink theme says more about Gerald Moreno than it does about anybody else.

Gerald Moreno would be well-advised to seek counselling in order to come to terms with his surfacing homosexuality, as well as several other disturbing issues such as his perverse sexual fetishes, his own experience of sexual molestation as well as his constant flip-flopping on fundamental issues to do with Sathya Sai Baba all documented in this post. As we can only envision more childish retorts from Gerald, it is considered that no more updates will be made.

It's official: The slander campaign against Sai
Baba's ex-devotees has lost all credibility and is beyond repair.

It's all over bar the shouting.

Naughty Children: Simon Brace

Next in line for a spank is Simon Brace (Nottingham, UK).

Simon, to put it mildly, appears to be something of an enigma. Sometimes he speaks a most serious way and the next minute he'll recklessly reel off a list of wild allegations that are tantamount to severe defamation and slander that can open himself up to legal action. Where do I start with this fellow?

Simon Brace's spiritual loyalties appear to be divided between several different gurus; as well as being a devotee of Sai Baba he also claims allegiance to Maitreya, a figure who is who is waiting for the right moment to emerge as the World Messiah. Whereas Maitreya is currently an invisible master, he can apparently be found living in a house in Brick Lane, East London.

Discussions with Brace (if you can call them discussions) have revealed that he also has severely disjointed thinking in formulating his thoughts which unfortunately portray him as an incoherent loon. Aside from his eccentric spiritual musings, his mundane thoughts have worryingly revealed him to be a dangerous alcoholic who is notable for being aggressive to people while under the influence. Racism, foul-mouthed abuse, sex obsession, pointless argumentation, interests in paedophilia, homo-erotic flirtation with other men, fascinations with male genitalia and anuses, and public admiration for Adolf Hitler are a few other interesting character quirks. It goes without saying that he is deeply influenced by his pals Lisa De Witt and Gerald 'Joe' Moreno, so much so that he jumps to their tune blindly believes whatever they say without applying even the slightest pinch of critical thinking.

But perhaps the most worrying issue with Simon Brace are his confessions to illegal activity; growing cannabis in his own home. In his own words:

i used to smoke...used to smoke ALOT all my money went on it
i had a room...a bedroom that was fillled with plants..a growing light
smoking was a BIG thing part of my life
one day..
i got BLASTED with this light...this energy
BLIIS pure bliss...freedom
minutes after...
i went into that roomm
and i destroyed all those plants
you know something else?
i9 didnt but any more ganja after that
but i dried those plants outs...smoked a few joints..

In case that wasn't clear, Simon Brace confessed to drug-farming with specialised equipment (heat lamps, "growing light") in order to feed his addiction, and that his drug habit was something that was a "BIG" part of his life as well as a considerable drain on his finances. Why go to all the trouble of growing the stuff if it wasn't to ensure a regular supply for drug-dealing? Surely Simon knew that what he was doing constituted criminal activity.

Simon later claimed that he smoked cannabis as a way of overcoming insomnia. With my recent blog about Sai devotees and their drug deals, this provides more fuel to the fire of suspicion that all is not well among the joyful and loving Sai family. At least, not amongst the sanctimonious bunch who relish pointing out the (real or imagined) faults of ex-devotees while seriously ignoring their own.

Naughty Children: Lisa De Witt

Lisa De Witt (Arizona, USA) -
Guilty of abusing and harassing ex-devotees since November 2003. She is believed to be single-handedly responsible for the breakdown of all civil and coherent public discussions on Sathya Sai Baba's alleged crimes of paedophilia and murder, due to her own abusive behaviour and reckless allegations that have served to distract the mass of the audience into topics of irrelevance. Her style of "discussion" includes stringing together disjointed pieces of information into a patchwork quilt and offering it to the public view as an example of flawless tapestry.

Some of her more wilder conspiracy theories include: the ridiculous assertion that ex-devotees of Sai Baba are part of a Fundamentalist Christian organisation with an agenda to defame Sai Baba, ex-devotees are anti-Hindu and racist, ex-devotees are guilty of criminal convictions, ex-devotees are guilty of alcoholism, drug addiction, rape, sex crimes, paedophilia - you name it and Lisa's probably accused ex-devotees of it. What is especially interesting is that she pays scant regard to that annoying little thing called 'proof', what to speak of attending to the fact that her nonsensical claims have been oft-refuted and still she continues to spread false and defamatory information with renewed fervour. Just one example of the vitriolic abuse that is spewed from her mouth is her very disturbing and violent desire to wish death upon ex-devotees of her guru Sai Baba.

More disturbing facts about Lisa De Witt include her claims to have regular visions and visitations from Jesus Christ and several angels. Her ancillary claims about faith healing and clairaudience have led some people (including myself) to label her as a possible paranoid schizophrenic. A reason for why she exhibits such bizarre behaviour could have it's origin in an incidence of child sexual abuse which she claims to have suffered at age 13 in a care home by a health worker, which possibly contributed to the breakdown of her marriage to a man 15 years older than her (who she married at age 20) as well as several other unsuccessful relationships with men. Several of her posts that attest to her sense of female superiority and her supercilious sense of victory over 'defeating' male ex-devotees (when her arguments lack substance and coherence in reality) contributes to this understanding.

Another disturbing trend appears to be increasing racism on her part. True to her muckraking nature, Lisa began to try and dig up dirt on the BBC after the release of the 'Secret Swami' documentary. Unfortunately she found herself indirectly standing up in support of the British National Party (BNP), a right-wing British political party that is renown for it's campaigns against immigration and desire to restoring "the overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948", when they registered their complaint against the BBC for a similar undercover documentary. If readers consider this to be a tenuous connection then they'll be interested to know that Lisa regularly insults a particular ex-devotee as a "stupid white man".

Recently it came to light that Lisa has turned to homosexuality somewhere along the line as she declared in the public-access discussion forums of a homosexuality-oriented website, a fact that she has not denied despite plenty of angry remarks from her in response to this information being brought to the attention of a wider audience. Also strange are the frequent references to anuses in her writings. Whereas her sexuality is not directly relevant to Sai Baba as such, I find it interesting that such an important aspect of her personality was hidden from the public at large. I suspect that she felt understandable discomfort defending Sai Baba - an alleged homosexual paedophile and murderer - while being a homosexual herself and having spent several years wildly accusing ex-devotees of being homosexual for years without any proof.

Apart from all of this, her strange ideas, fascination with anuses and justifications about Sai Baba's behaviour and teachings have been documented elsewhere on this blog (some anonymously and some not so anonymously), writings that have widely condemned her as a vile and ignorant, abusive and thoroughly unethical devotee of Sai Baba. That's just putting it mildly.

Sai Baba's Naughty Children

First, let me note that since the defenders of Sathya Sai Baba have taken to dishonourable means in order to discredit the critics of their idol for so long and with impunity - even constructing several webpages to that end - I find it fitting that a response should be made in kind. Although the depths of depravity among the Sai-groupies will be documented more thoroughly in due course of time, I think that it's time for something of a sneak preview relating to three of the current and prominent Sai Baba apologists.

Having spent a total of nearly six years acquainted with the Sathya Sai Baba controversy and scandals - on both sides of the debate - I can say how I disturbed I feel when self-righteous and puffed-up believers stand on their soapboxes and sanctimoniously point out faults (real or imagined) in the character and behaviour of ex-devotees. It's almost as if they really believe that they are angels walking on earth with the God-given right to be judge, jury and executioner all rolled into one. Needless to say, their sly tactics go against every single spiritual teaching that we were taught during our time at the feet of the one we once thought to be the Lord God. The famous teaching of Jesus Christ comes to mind: "Point not to the speck in thy brother's eye and ignore the log in thine own!"

Although I've been sitting on this for about a month, I believe that I have reasonable evidence to support what is documented herein. It's about time that these naughty children, who run amok all over the Internet with glee, get the spanking that they so richly deserve. Just as Sai Baba's defenders strangely claim that their slanderous and defamatory activities are a public service, we similarly offer the following all-true information as a public service:
